Departmental structure

Our school is organised into National Curriculum Year Groups (1 to 6). Each year group is single age.
Classes are arranged into two year band. Children in our Early Years are taught in separate Nursery
and Reception areas.

The children are placed into mixed ability teaching groups. A variety of teaching methods are used
throughout the school, including whole class teaching, groups of individual work as appropriate.
Some aspects of the Curriculum, in particular Mathematics, is taught in ability groups across year
groups where appropriate

There are two teachers per Year Group in Key Stage One. In Key Stage Two where the groups vary,
two or three teachers are responsible per year group. Each teacher is responsible for a registration
group, which are arranged chronologically. There are three teachers, assisted by three Teaching
Assistants in the Early Years Department. Both Infant and Junior Classes have the assistance of a
Teaching Assistant. We have also specialist aides where needed.
