The Curriculum
The Governors of St. Peter’s Primary School and Nursery, with due regard to the Local Authority Curriculum Statement, aim to provide a curriculum which caters for all pupils according to their age ability and individual needs.
Our Curriculum is centred on our Catholic Faith and permeates the whole curriculum. The beliefs and values inspire and unify every aspect of school life to offer a living experience of the life of faith in its practical expression.
We follow the Here I Am Scheme of Work, as recommended by the Archdiocese of Cardiff.
Education in Personal Relationship (EPR) in the school is taught in agreement of governors and parent with due consideration to the maturity of the child. It is designated to be a discrete element of both the R.E and Science Curriculum.
The National Curriculum is taught at Key Stage One and Two and Desirable Outcomes are followed in Early Years. The CORE subjects, (English, Mathematics and Science) are now only assessed nationally at the end of Key Stage Two.
The Welsh Language is taught throughout the school as a second language. All other subjects reflect the Curriculum Cymraeg within the syllabus.
Any comment or queries, that concern aspects of the Curriculum should be made to the Head in the first instance. They will then be referred to the Governing Body via the Curriculum Sub Committee.
