School History

This is St. Peter’s Girls school in 1905.
It was one of the first Catholic schools in Wales!

There were six female teachers in the school in 1905.

They were:
Catherine Garrard,
Nora Hackett,
Cecilia Martin,
Rose Hodges,
Margaret Lane,
Elizabeth Martin.

There was also a woman called Ellen Houghton.
She was known as the mistress of the school.

This is a picture of the teachers in St. Peter’s.
As you can see they dressed formally and very smartly! Our teachers today are dressed much more colourfully!

This is a picture of the boy’s school in 1905. Their uniform is different from now. They wore a collared shirt, a sweatshirt and trousers.
This is Mr. Flynn, the Head Teacher of St. Peter’s R.C Primary School.
This is a picture of the school in 2005. It has changed much in the years and it has moved over the years as well.
This is the picture of the boy’s school diary in 1905. The staff included Mary Higgins, Kate Cleary and many more.
